The ZymeFlow Decon Technology brand was started by United Laboratories International (ULI) over 25 years ago in Chicago, Illinois, USA. The core chemistry, Zyme-Flow® UN657, was first created for the treatment of wastewater facilities. Quickly following the invention, it was discovered that the chemistry also worked in water circulation for refinery environments to de-oil and oxidize pyrophoric iron sulfide and hydrogen sulfide inside process vessels. As the company grew and gained more experience, the team began applying chemistry using steam. This application method was refined and patented as the Vapour-Phase® process. ZymeFlow Vapour-Phase is still considered the best practice in decontamination and is the most widely used globally by ZymeFlow Decon. The Vapour-Phase Process has earned its reputation due to the extremely fast results to de-oil and eliminate hydrogen sulfide (H2S), benzene, and other LELs in 8-12 hours with minimum equipment and personnel footprint.
