Desalter DecontaminatorTM K31 is an internal cleaner/decontaminator that dissolves and removes heavy hydrocarbon deposits on surfaces for which low-flashpoint solvents cannot be used.
DD K31 is formulated to convert sulfides to safe sulfur compounds, maximize degassing properties, and remove most hydrocarbons.
DD K31 can be added to water at concentrations of 2 to 5% and mixed with heavy hydrocarbons to emulsify and disperse the hydrocarbons. Emulsions made with DD K31 will break without additional clean-water recovery chemicals. Wash solutions can be sent to crude tankage for easy breakout and recovery.
DD K31 was developed to clean the most problematic desalters. Standard decontaminators such as turpene-type cleaners, are often inadequate for cleaning/decontaminating desalters in which "synthetic" crudes are run. Comparatively, DD K31 has a very high flash point, allowing circulation at elevated temperatures for superior cleaning performance.
