Heavy Oil Blender HOB™ K61) is an additive that takes on the tough stuff—heavy oils, tar, and asphalt, breaking them up for quick removal. When added to light-cycle oil, kerosene, diesel, or other common hydrocarbon solvent, HOB K61 quickly penetrates heavy-oil deposits, dramatically increasing the solvent's effectiveness in removing them.

Traditional solvents alone soften heavy-oil deposits, but they often leave an impenetrable barrier that prevents removal of the deposits. Low concentrations of HOB K61 are required. HOB K61 not only softens the deposits, but actually breaks them down so that the solvent can flush them away with the waste oil. The time required for dissolution depends on temperature and thickness of the deposits. In laboratory tests, a sample of asphalt heated to 140°F dissolves in just seconds after being placed in a container of light-cycle oil mixed with HOB K61.

HOB K61 is safe for equipment, and poses no disposal concerns, since it is recycled with the waste oil at the end of the job.
