Concerned about oxidation caused by polythionate and thiosulfate acids? Consider
Zyme-Ox® Z20, a proven alternative to the NACE-recommended practice of using a soda ash coating inside stainless steel vessels to prevent corrosion and cracking caused by polythionate and thiosulfate acids.
Zyme-Ox Z20 solubilizes and oxidizes polythionic acids almost instantly, eliminating time-on-metal corrosion. Zyme-Ox Z20 also allows excellent penetration, hydrogen sulfide control, pyrophoric iron sulfide oxidation, deoiling, and degassing during the same application, which expedites vessel preparation, allowing workers to enter more quickly, and eliminates the harsh wastewater characteristics of soda ash.
Corrosion caused by a slow acidic reaction to these acids begins in steamout, and the application of high-pH soda ash only slows the reaction.
Initial trials of Zyme-Ox Z20 indicated that the new technology, which requires no mixing tanks, requires 20% less application time than soda ash. In other field tests, Zyme-Ox Z20 eliminated corrosive sulfur compounds in the time it took to pump the product into the vessels.
